Villa Agape made my dream come true of a return to Florence. As the taxi climbed the hill, we saw the Cathedral Dome and city below. Outside the Renaissance villa, twin Marzocco Lions guard the gate, the symbol of Florence. Inside was a warm welcome from Lucca, Loris, and Cassandra at Reception, who helped me arrange tours and went above and beyond to meet all my room requests. Need a luggage stand for your clamshell suitcase? Just ask! Alessio and Ambo, who drive the complimentary hotel shuttle to town and back each day, were very friendly and helpful (5-10 minutes drive, depends on traffic.) And I’m grateful to Walter and Mario who answered my questions by email before arrival. Built in the 1460s, Villa Agape was a private home and a convent over the centuries. In the 1950s the Duchess d'Aosta put in extensive gardens, and in 2014 it was renovated as a hotel. I loved my little Superior Single room with its beautiful view of the garden. The gardens are gorgeous. Even after walking 5-7 hours around Florence, on return each evening I had to stroll the gardens. The included breakfast was great: a full buffet of eggs, all kinds of bread, fruits, pastries and extras like roast mushrooms. Dinner is excellent; make reservations, people coming up from town just to dine here. Right off the dining room is the Duchess Garden, a lovely green lawn for meals if weather permits. There’s even a Wine Dispenser machine in the small fireside lounge off the lobby. Reception gives you a 50-Euro wine card to use in the machine anytime, 24x7, and paid for at checkout. I didn't want to check out!

This is our third stay at this villa. But this time the impression was spoiled by the condition of the rooms. The rooms look quite tired. Especially the bathrooms. Not very clean plumbing. And in some places it is very noticeable. The rooms are definitely in need of renovation. And the bed linen needs to be replaced. Two different rooms, one of which was a junior suite, had holes in the pillowcases. The junior suite was also not very clean. A curtain that needs washing, a table that someone doused with red wine, but it was never put in order. There was a coffee machine in the room, but the capsules were missing. Breakfasts are varied, but these are not the same breakfasts that were before. The baked goods are less tasty. The most unpalatable is the scramble. Not tasty and didn't smell very good. This is one of the most beloved villas, but it clearly lacks attention and care. And repair. The breakfast and reception staff are lovely and polite. The views from the villa, the garden and the surroundings are fantastic !! But for this money, you want a clean room without holes in the bedding.

There is so much to list that is so marvellous about this property. The location is breathtaking. The gardens are out of this world and the Villa is completely authentic. The decorations are stunning. The hotel is pristine.. The staff is so friendly and helpful full of recommendations for places to visit. Our room was breathtaking with beautiful frescos and painted ceilings. The view from our window was overlooking the garden. You could sit for hours, just soaking in the gorgeous Tuscan, sun and landscape. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful. We enjoyed dinner as well as breakfast alfresco. The food is top notch. Definitely worth a visit.

The hotel is super beautiful, the gardens are a wonderful place where you can spend your mornings under the sun or watch the sunset with a drink. It is in a great location, away from the city center which is too full with tourists, allowing you to have some quiet time, but at the same time close enough to go to the touristic attractions when you want. The hotel transfer service works very well. The hotel serves incredible food (breakfast, all day lunch and dinner) probably better that most restaurants in the city. Rooms are very nice and with all you need. All staff is very nice and helpful. A perfect stay, we'll definitely go back.

A short walk from Michelangelo palazzo overlooking Florence. Stunning! The beautiful grounds and hotel took you away from the crowds into a lovely garden:countryside quieter location. Breakfast in the garden was lovely. Great breakfast offering including my hero (the juicing machine). Staff all very helpful and friendly. Loved our 2 night stay. Including the stunning art collection displayed throughout, would highly recommend.
